Stancija Guran and the holiday house “Božac” are located in Istria, 3 km east of Vodnjan, on the road to Barban. Guran was first mentioned in 1150. On the hill in the south of the small village, there are the ruins of the ancient Gurianum. It is reported that some centuries ago a respectable soldier by the name of Gurianum received this place as a gift. Later Guran was name after him. This area of Vodnjan has become a new destination to be discovered. You can walk along the paths and visit the ruins of the Basilica of St. Simon the Apostle from the VII century and the ruins of the Church of St. Jacob from 1562. Back in the 1900’s the ancestors of this family bought this structure not knowing the impact it would have on the fourth generation of the family together with the children and grandchildren. Then in 2004 they began to restore the structure by protecting the native characteristics (stone and wood) and the beauty of the Istrian landscape. The house has three floors (the ground floor, the first floor and the attic apartment). The house has a separate entrance, enclosed by a dry-stone wall and a garden with aromatic plants (lavender, sage, and rosemary).
